After losing a painting during the week to a rash act. I got back on the rocking horse and tried the same shop from a different window. What I thought would be a relatively easy one turned out one of the most difficult.I found the varied subtle mid-tones quite challenging. The photo although tonally quite close doesn't show them as well as the real thing of course.

Incidentally today I picked up a 44 1/2 x 10 yard roll of Arches 300gsm
It'll be interesting to have a go supersizing these.

It is interesting to watch your progress with these new works and to wonder where this "new" style will take you.
They just keep getting better, is that possible?? The palette on this is monstrous my man! And the image is great. I absolutely despise the expression "eye candy" (don't think that needs explaining), so I'll just have to say that I can look at this for a very long time. Imagine it without the blue on the left side.....unthinkable,it's the keystone to the picture for this candyholic.
Dake, I posted on this but I must have screwed it up, sorry. I've been looking at it for days, and it might be my favorite (I know I keep saying that, but...). The palette is superb, the balance of abstraction, the dividing lines in the window, the centered logo...all of it perfect. And I think that blue bit on the left is the color keystone to the whole painting. Some big city gallery has to show these soon, what an exhibit that would be. I imagine you're working a new on the roll, I'm waiting nervously!

Nick, I've started a square painting on the roll. A nice garden scene to rest from the streets for a while.

Yes Sandy, But good quality wallpaper. I'll go with quality over economy any day.
I'm awaiting a response from an inner city gallery at the moment.
It's like any relationship, there must be something in common, so finding a suitable partner in a city the size of Perth is no mean feat. I'm not sure of the courting ritual here and I'm not into the arty-farty egotwattle small talk . If not Perth I'll try Melbourne. There's a few more venues there.

I see with interest you've just purchased a roll of 300gsm Arches Watercolour paper...I found a bargain-priced one a couple of years ago... thought it a great money-saving and time-saving idea, thinking that I wouldn't need to stretch it!!!! Weelllll! Straightening it out is a real pain....! How did you go....??
