The weather is starting to cool just enough to go exploring with more comfort here in Alice Springs.
Last Saturday we ventured in to the East MacDonnell Ranges to try and find some Rock Art and to see for ourselves some of the Sacred Sites within 100kms of the town.
Needless to say we had a fulfilling day. I took well over 300 photographs.
This simple Dragonfly sat still long enough for a couple of shots.
PS3 enhanced the palette.

It sounds like a wonderland of new experiences!
I am going via "The Ghan" in June ...only for about ten days altogether. Three nights Alice Springs,then on to Darwin for two nights plus trip along Katherine Gorge.
My camera is going to be invaluable.

We've been talking abut going to Darwin by Ghan and flying back o Alice just for a long weekend but were running out of weekends.

Wow, what a photo! I love dragon flies --they're amazing insects!! I clicked the image for the enlarged view = Wow!!! [I encourage others to check that enlarged view.] David, you must have used a fast shutter speed+++ on that to 'fix' those wings in flight (i know how fast those wings osillate!!). I also love the overall blue variegated background colour. Fantastic image from Nature. best wishes,

Thanks Wayne, this one was sitting still so didn't require a super fast shutter.
At the same rock pool there was a fairly large goanna, heaps of small green frogs and flocks of budgies and finches. Quite a lively little oasis.
One is almost guaranteed of encountering something interesting on every outing.
I'd seriously consider doing a painting based on the dragonfly pic...before that Kory Flukiger guy gets to it.

Alice is almost through with me. We'll part next Friday(Good Friday in fact)after our 3 month arranged marriage. Damn she was HOT!

I was intending to do it when I get back to my studio, I need some space to tackle this. It'll compliment large B'fly I did last year.
